I read an article in The Paris Review last weekend, and have seen it crop up on my Twitter feed a couple more times since. Behold, a lovely tale of going from hate to love of The Little Prince.
“As yet you are nothing. No one has tamed you, and you have tamed no one. You are like my fox when I first knew him. He was only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But I have made him my friend, and now he is unique in all the world.”
How anyone could hate The Little Prince, I do not know, but I love the idea of rereading something to turn your heart around on it. Ah, the power of second chances.
